About Sheila

Hello! I’m Sheila Wahezi, an early childhood educator, parent coach, and consultant.

With a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA and an M.S. in Early Childhood Education from CSUEB, I bring both academic knowledge and practical experience to my caregiving approach.

Since 2018, I've worked closely with children in various capacities:

  • Registered Behavior Technician: Supported children on the Autism Spectrum, enhancing my understanding of individualized care.

  • Preschool Teacher (2019–2025): Six years of classroom experience with children aged 0-5, fostering development through play and structured learning. I am a previous GeoKids educator and so much of my work is reflective of their program.

  • Pedagogy Coordinator (2026): Coached teaching staff at Cross Cultural Family Center in San Francisco, authoring educator guides and building training frameworks that translated pedagogical philosophy into clear, actionable classroom practices.

My commitment to professional growth includes:

How I think about children and caregiving

A woman with short dark hair and earrings, sitting on the floor and reading a children's book titled "Armadillo" and "Bear" with illustrations of a yellow armadillo and a brown bear. She is wearing a brown dress. Behind her there is a large green potted plant with broad leaves. On the table in front of her, there are children's books, a small woven basket with a pink object inside, a colorful abacus, a stack of educational books about positive discipline, teaching community, and the language of children, some crayons, and various small toys and decorations.

I believe:

  • children are full humans, not projects to manage

  • behavior is communication, not a problem to eliminate

  • adults deserve just as much care, reflection, and support as children do

  • sustainable caregiving depends on self-awareness, not perfection

  • relationships matter more than techniques

I’m less interested in rigid systems and more interested in helping people think clearly, respond intentionally, and trust themselves.

Who tends to enjoy this work

I believe:

  • Working with me tends to resonate with people who:

    • work closely with children and care deeply about doing it well

    • enjoy reflection and conversation

    • want perspective rather than prescriptions

    • are curious about their own patterns and responses

If you’re looking for step-by-step instructions or a highly structured system, this probably won’t be your thing — and that’s okay.

Testimonials

  • "Sheila's guidance was tremendously helpful as we navigate parenting a toddler and baby for the first time! Her immense knowledge and depth of experience in the field of early childhood education is incredibly evident. Sheila was able to create and share with us a plan to help our 2 year old gain independence in self care tasks including using the potty and getting himself dressed. She gave him the skills and confidence to achieve these tasks, and made it a positive and stress free experience for all of us. Sheila also helped us create a transition plan for our baby as he transitioned from home to full time school. She helped us understand his needs at his current developmental stage and how we can best support him through this major transition in a way that is attune to his emotions and needs. Sheila has made a tremendous difference in our parenting journey, and I could not more highly recommend her consulting services!"

  • “We have known Sheila for a few years now, but it feels like we’ve known her forever! She has been an educator at my kids’ school, a babysitter for all 3 kids, and a friend. Sheila is a warm, loving, hyper-observant caretaker. She is interested in each child she’s interacting with, listening to them and responding with truth, wisdom and authenticity. She’s thoughtful and respectful. Her sense of humor, problem solving mind, and real passion for her work make her a joy to work with! As an educator, we were already blown away by Sheila’s positive impact on our son Mikey and all of our kids. And then as a babysitter, Sheila impressed us even further with her calm, relaxed demeanor while staying organized and tidy, and somehow juggling all the kids with various schedules! Sheila is meant for this line of work, and you can feel it immediately when you meet her. She is trustworthy and honest and truly loves working with kids. We love her!!"

  • “Sheila was a wonderful partner in helping us through the journey of parenting a toddler - communicative, knowledgeable and a helpful resource to have especially for first time parents.  Equipped with years of experience and child development training, Sheila handled any and all challenges with our child flawlessly from potty training to tantrums (terrible two’s!). When you meet her, you can feel her passion for working with children. It is truly rare to find someone who is so invested in your child’s growth and happiness. I can’t imagine having a nanny that is more caring and loving than Sheila.  I highly recommend her services.”

  • New “Sheila is an absolute gem! Not only was she a wonderful preschool teacher to all three of our children, but her Positive Discipline expertise truly transformed our parenting approach for the better. Now, as our trusted babysitter, Sheila seamlessly implements those same positive techniques whenever she's with our kids and creates a consistent and nurturing environment. Last year, we felt completely at ease leaving our three children in her care overnight for 3 days while we were on vacation – that's the level of trust we have in her. The kids absolutely adore her, and frankly, so do we.” List Item

  • "From the moment Sheila first connected with our daughter Megh as her preschool teacher, we knew she was something special for her. Megh isn't one to warm up quickly to new faces—but with Sheila, there was this instant click. When we had the chance to bring Sheila into our home as a part-time caregiver, we embraced it. What touches us most is how Sheila doesn't just "watch" Megh—she truly sees her. Sheila's background and skills in child psychology definitely shows, but it's her natural way of connecting emotionally with Megh that makes all the difference. She's helped her master toilet training and build independence in ways that previously only we as parents could accomplish. There's this depth to their relationship that goes beyond typical caregiving. Our family absolutely adores Sheila. If you're looking for someone who goes beyond just "watching" your child, Sheila is your person. We couldn't recommend her more highly!"
